Premature labor pain and it¢¥s mechanism

Abstract
Prematurity is the leading cause of neonatal mortality and morbidity. The mortality rates, for premature infants have somewhat improved in recent years, mostly via remarkable advances in neonatology, but these babies who survive carry high risks of developing epilepsy, cerebral palsy, or mental retardation, among various other disorders.
Therefore, premature labor producing premature infants is the foremost obstetric problem: effective measures to control ¢¥premature labor would be a major advance in obstetric care.
Great progress has been made in recent years to critically evaluate and render scientific therapy for premature labor as much of these therapies was based on better understanding of normal uterine physiology. But still the results obtained with the therapies presently available are far from. being satisfactory.
Current concepts of labor mechanism are presented in the hope of better understanding of pathophysiology and therapeutic measures of premature labor, and currently available methods to arrest premature labor are discussed.
